Origins

All branches of the Lis family can be traced to the Carpathians of southern Poland, with half of the family coming from Lubcza and neighboring villages. The Stawiarski family comes from Libusza, which is just south of Lubcza. The Myszak family, on the other hand, originates from Janów Lubelski, a town further to the north, although still in the Carpathian region.

Pop-Pop (Thomas Lis) (1944-2022)

Thomas Lis or Pop-Pop as he was named by me, was born in 1944 into the Polish working class neighborhood of Port Richmond in Philadelphia. His family owned a grocery store for much of his childhood. When he was 18 he joined the marines where he served on the USS Intrepid, which during his service acted as a recovery ship for the Gemini space mission. After he was discharged from the marines he worked for IBM for 24 years, seeing the rise of home computers. During this time he settled in New Castle, Delaware and started a family, which would eventually lead to me.
